Mercer adopts Marsh brand as businesses unite

Mercer has adopted the Marsh brand, bringing the people and investments business under the Marsh name.

The change took effect yesterday, September 1, following plans announced in October 2025 to bring its businesses together under a single brand.

Mercer has been part of Marsh since 1959 and provides services across investments, retirement, health and benefits, workforce and rewards.

According to Marsh, the move is intended to better reflect the combined capabilities, scale and impact of its businesses.

Marsh People and Investments (formerly Mercer) CEO Pat Tomlinson says: “In a world that’s changing faster than ever, our clients need the breadth of capabilities, insights and scale that they can access through Marsh.

“The expanded Marsh brand builds on everything that has made Mercer great—our deep expertise, specialisation and our unparalleled data, across health and benefits, investments and retirement, and workforce and rewards.

“Under a unified brand, we will be able to have a more visible impact for our colleagues, clients, and communities across the world.”

In a LinkedIn post, Marsh partner and proposition and innovation leader Neil Atkinson explains that the move marked “an exciting next chapter”.

He says: “As Mercer transitions to Marsh, we’re bringing trusted expertise into a more connected platform for clients.”

Atkinson says he was “proud of what Mercer has stood for” and “energised by the opportunity to create even greater impact as Marsh”. He noted that the unified brand would also make it easier for the business to use Marsh’s wider capabilities to address health challenges.

“As a practice leader looking to harness all of what Marsh has to address our societal health challenges, showing up as Marsh is uncomplicated and more impactful for clients.”

He adds that the combined business could draw on expertise from insurance, actuarial science, risk management and work design to help leaders address three areas.

The first is population health, including identifying risks earlier, supporting prevention and improving the measurement of outcomes.

The second is workforce productivity, with Marsh helping employers build healthier and more resilient workforces.

The third is health and social care system resilience, including policymaking and reform, governance, incident learning, pathway optimisation, supply-chain resilience and public and private sector collaboration.

Atkinson says bringing these areas together would allow Marsh to use expertise from across the business to help clients address wider health and workforce challenges.
