Bluefin scoops prestigious award

Managing director Nick Burns collects Bluefin’s “Corporate Adviser Firm of the Year”award

Bluefin Bluefin was named Firm of the Year at the 2010 Corporate Adviser Awards in London last month, while awards first-timers Lift-Financial walked off with both the pensions and technology gongs.

Alexander Forbes Financial Services took top prize in both the Group Income Protection Adviser and Group Risk Adviser categories, while Lane Clark & Peacock scooped the trophy for Best Strategy for Investment Advice on Pensions. Buck Consultants won the Best Member Communication Strategy category, at the event, which took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, hosted by Edinburgh Fringe favourite Kevin Bridges.

Adviser categories were determined by a panel of 11 industry experts. They voted Portus Consulting as winner in the Best Health and Wellbeing Solution category, and gave the award for Healthcare Adviser of the Year to Aon Consulting. Company Rapport UK was named small firm of the year.

In the provider categories, which were determined by independent research of 250 corporate intermediaries, carried out by H2B, the winners were Canada Life, Bupa and Aegon for best group risk, healthcare and pensions provider respectively.

This year’s Ultimate Default Fund winner was Scottish Life for its Governed Range, earning more than half of the 300 votes lodged in the online reader poll.
