DWP climate policy expert joins Nest

David Farrar, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) senior policy manager, is joining Nest on secondment to work on climate change, responsible investment and other evolving policy areas.

Farrar joins Nest after over 18 years at the DWP where he has worked on pensions policy since 2014. His new role is climate and stewardship policy manager.

His DWP occupational pensions policy work has covered consultations and other key initiatives in relation to climate change and ESG, charges, transaction costs, decumulation and pensions freedoms, transfers and investment strategy.

Farrar has been a regular voice speaking on behalf of the DWP on DC pension policy issues at the Corporate Adviser Summit and other industry events.

Farrar says: “After 7 years working on workplace pensions policy issues including costs, disclosure, governance and most recently climate change and stewardship, I’m delighted to be joining Nest, the UK’s largest DC occupational scheme, to take the agenda forward in practice.”
