Genetics and disability bodies scrapped but Nest safe in bonfire of the quangos

The list also calls for the abolition of the Genetics and Insurance Committee, even though it was wound up in July 2009, and the merger of the PPF Ombudsman with the Pensions Ombudsman, another already planned move. The document says the future of the Pensions Advisory Service is still to be decided.

The list says that the Disability Living Allowance Advisory Board and Attendance Allowance Advisory Board should both be abolished. The Disability Employment Advisory Committee is also pencilled in for closure, with its duties to be handed to Equality 2025.

The list was attached to a letter dated 26 August 2010 from Francis Maude, Cabinet Office minister, to Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, that said the number of bodies affected by the reforms is likely to rise beyond the 49 per cent of quangos affected once final decisions have been made.
