Health Shield mourns death of CEO Burton

Health Shield chief executive Jonathan Burton has died at the age of 50 following a battle with an aggressive form of cancer.

Burton, who spent 25 years with Health Shield, over 17 of which were as CEO, was diagnosed with the condition late last year. A statement from Health Shield says he passed away peacefully with his family around him on Friday 6th April.

Courtney Marsh was appointed acting CEO several months ago and will continue with this remit until further notice.

Health Shield chairman David Allen says: “Jonathan was an inspirational leader and his infectious smile and upbeat attitude always created a positive and cheerful atmosphere throughout the company. I’m sure everyone across the industry who knew Jonathan will join me in sending our heartfelt condolences to his family at this difficult time.  He will be sorely missed by all.”

“As some of you are probably already aware, Courtney Marsh was appointed Acting CEO a few months back by Jonathan and the Board to help ensure the smooth running of the business during his absence. Courtney will continue with this remit until further notice.”
