Herbert leaves Jelf for Howden

High profile benefits consultant Steve Herbert is leaving Jelf Employee Benefits to join fast-growing consultancy Howden Employee Benefits.

The move sees Herbert, who takes the role of head of benefits strategy, reunited with Glenn Thomas, former Mercer partner and CEO of Jelf Employee Benefits, who joined Howden as MD of employee benefits & global practice leader earlier this year.

Herbert’s appointment follows other recent appointments, including International Benefits expert Adam Harding, former owner of Fidelius Group Iain Fox, pensions specialist Rob Atkins and communications expert Gina Ellis.

Thomas is progressing his growth agenda for Howden Employee Benefits, and says the appointment of Herbert is an important part of this journey. Herbert is well known to employers and insurers through his seminar, blog, survey, and media work.

Thomas says: “Having worked with Steve before, I know that he will bring both a dynamism and new perspective to our company and offering, and that he will ensure that even more employers are aware of the important services we provide across the entire remit of UK and International Employee Benefits.”

Herbert says: “I am absolutely delighted to join the employee benefits division of Howden.  This is a company which is fast-growing and has ambitious plans, coupled with an excellent and knowledgeable team already in place.  My role will be to deliver relevant, topical, and important insights and commentary to UK employers on all the key changes in the Employee Benefits space.  I’m also looking forward to having a much greater involvement in the development and delivery of new products and concepts to market.

“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge.  Employers and the benefits industry will be seeing and hearing a lot more of me over the months and years to come!”
