Hussain leaves PWC to start own venture

Saq Hussain, the former leader of the defined contribution and pensions practice at PWC has left the firm after over 10 years to set up his own business.

Hussain’s new venture delivers financial education through the workplace and is called financialeducation.co.uk.

Hussain says: “Over the past few years, I have seen employers increasingly focused on wanting to improve the financial wellbeing of their workforce.  To achieve this, they want and need to provide financial education.  However, I believe that true independent, and unbiased, education is limited, and therefore I felt that was a gap to offer something that was purely educational in nature.

“There are numerous surveys out there that show that people are struggling with their finances, and ultimately this is having a knock-on impact on their mental health. We have set ourselves a mission to improve the financial literacy of 1 million people in the workplace and by doing so, we believe we can have a positive impact on the mental and financial health of a lot of people.

“To help us do this, we have developed an online financial wellbeing assessment tool. That is going to the basis upon which employers will be able to build targeted financial education programmes for their workforce.”
