Axa PPP adds GP service to healthcare plan

Axa PPP has added a private GP service to the standard level of cover on its Advance health insurance plan.

This Doctor@Hand service offers 20-minute phone and video conferences with a private GP. The appointments will be around the clock, so members can access this service outside of traditional GP hours.

Axa PPP’s advance plan is available for large corporates. This additional service will be available free of charge for the first year.

Members will have unlimited access to these GP consultations. Axa PPP says this is a real advantage for both members, and companies given the time it can take to secure a GP appointment.

Doctors working for the service can also write referral letters for members who need to see a specialist – and forward them to Axa PPP healthcare to set up the appointment.

This offer will be available for new businesses from April 1 2019, and for existing client and self-insured schemes renewing on or after this date.

Axa PPP distribution director Chris Horlick says: “We want members to be able to see a GP as they need to so they can have earlier conversation about their health issues, and in turn get quicker access to the treatment they need.”

The Doctor@Hand service is provided by Doctor Care Anywhere. The company’s founder and chief executive Dr Bayju Thakar says: “We are delighted to bring the benefits of this service to thousands more members through corporate healthcare schemes.”
