Former Hymans Robertson partner and DC consulting head Lee Hollingworth has joined Franklin Templeton as head of UK retirement.

Hollingworth will be responsible for developing and leading Franklin Templeton’s DC pensions business in the UK market, and will report to Martyn Gilbey, UK country head.

In this newly created role, Hollingworth will focus on creating and implementing a new customised proposition for the UK retirement market utilising expertise across Franklin Templeton and its specialist investment managers. His key focuses will include proposition design, business development and relationship management. He will also be exploring strategic partnerships in the DC sector.

With over 20 years’ industry experience, Hollingworth joins from Hymans Robertson where he was Partner in the Business to Business consulting team, and most notably established and led their DC consulting busi-ness. Prior to this, Hollingworth was Senior Manager, Pensions Practice at KPMG. He has also previously held roles at Punter Southall and Standard Life.

Gilbey says: “The retirement market is a core growth area for Franklin Templeton. Lee’s appointment to spearhead our retirement business will play a key part in our strategic growth plans for the UK market.”

Hollingworth says: “I am delighted to be joining Franklin Templeton and look forward to working with Martyn and team to deliver on the business’ ambitions for the UK. Asset managers have a key role to play during the next phase of the evolution of retirement saving in the UK. The market has now reached the scale that enables access to a broader set of investments, such as private assets to improve member outcomes, and of course the increasing demand that these investments are managed responsibly.”
