Smart has appointed Anish Rav to the new role of director of retirement.

The master trust provider  says this role will be pivotal  its expansion plans, and building on the success of its global retirement platform.

Rav joins from Capita Pension solutions, where he was director of pensions policy. He has worked in the pension industry since 1995, and has also previously held senior roles at a number of pensions consultancies.

He is a fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and has advised trustees and corporate clients on the issues faced by both defined contribution and defined benefit pension schemes.

In his new role Rav  will be responsible for the design and management of all retirement products, solutions and related platform capabilities, features, and services offered by Smart.

The appointment comes as Smart embarks on further expansion. Its Keystone platform serves more than a million savers, and sits behind the Smart Pension Master Trust in the UK, as well as its international retirement propositions, which have been in partnership with organisations such as the Bank of Ireland and Zurich. Smart recently announced it will also be expanding in the Australian pensions market.

Smart platform director Martin Freeman says: “Keystone by Smart is active across the globe, helping more than a million savers make better decisions and put them in a better position for the future as they invest in one of the most critical areas of their lives.

“Anish is well-known in the industry for his innovative ideas and the great work he’s done helping improve employees’ outcomes. I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with him in our mission to transform retirement, savings and financial wellbeing, across all generations, around the world.”
