Former Smart Pension platform strategy director Martin Freeman has launched Pensio, an independent pensions technology consultancy.
In a LinkedIn post, Freeman said: “I want to use my soberingly long experience in the industry to help all organisations, great and small, to build and use the best pensions technology.
“We’re at an exciting crossroads in the industry. Dashboards are increasing the demand for digitisation, unleashing incredible potential. Small pots and lifetime provider policies could turn the traditional value chain on its head. And the relentless focus on value for money and consolidation makes us look for ways to serve members better and more efficiently.”
Freeman says he created Pensio to aid pensions and software providers in developing impactful solutions that facilitate retirement planning, enhance value for money, and foster growth through client-centric service delivery.
The new consultancy offers services such as product strategy and roadmaps, product process, supporting regulatory changes, proposal support, scheme improvements and pensions expertise boost
At Smart Pension, Freeman oversaw process improvements and controls while being a key leader in the company’s expansion from 35 to 800 people. He developed the pensions platform’s strategy and vision, increasing the amount of assets under administration (AUA) from £100 million to £5 billion.
Additionally, he led a user-centered design team encompassing research, service design, UX, UI, and content creation, and collaborated with institutional clients and prospects to align platform capabilities with their objectives.
He has previously worked for Capita as a senior DC consultant as well as Jardine Lloyd Thompson as a director.
