Zurich has launched a new group critical illness proposition which rounds out its suite of Group Risk products.

This policy offers coverage for spouses or partners with a maximum benefit of up to £500,000. Additionally, it includes a child benefit that amounts to 25 per cent of the member’s total benefit. Customers can select from spouse or partner coverage options of £250,000, £375,000, or £500,000, along with child benefits of either £25,000 or £50,000.

The Total Permanent Disability coverage can be tailored based on definitions such as Activities of Daily Living, Own Occupation, or Suited Occupation.

The policy provides protection for 15 standard critical illnesses and surgeries, including heart attack, cancer, and stroke, while also covering an additional 27 essential illnesses and surgeries.

Child critical illness coverage is automatically included, offering protection for 11 specific childhood illnesses and surgeries, including critical care while Cancer Drug Fund can reimburse up to £100,000 for essential cancer medications.

Customers who have questions before filing a claim can get help from a pre-claim support service. A variety of support services are also available to policyholders, such as virtual GP consultations, employee assistance programmes (EAP), and second medical opinion services.

Zurich head of market management Nick Homer says: “Launching Group Critical Illness cover establishes Zurich as a Group Risk provider which can provide the full suite of products. It changes the conversations we can have with advisers and employers and means that we have an enhanced response to emerging health and environmental issues.

“This has been a long-term strategic aim, so we have been extremely diligent in developing this proposition. We’ve designed it to be flexible to give employers the opportunity to match or enhance their existing benefit design, whilst also remaining aware of the current cost challenges facing businesses. Employers can include additional conditions such as spouse/partner cover, increasing the maximum child benefit and cancer drug fund cover as extra features, to allow employees to tailor their benefits to meet their personal needs.”
