Howden has appointed Carla Hammond as chief financial officer for Howden Health & Employee Benefits (HEB) and Barnett Waddingham (BW).

Hammond joins from Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), where she spent 18 years in senior finance leadership roles, most recently as head of finance for the UK & Ireland. She will lead financial strategy, governance and performance across Howden’s combined UK employee benefits business. She will also provide financial oversight for HEB’s global operations, supporting Howden’s growing international employee benefits footprint. Hammond will report to Glenn Thomas, CEO, UK health & employee benefits and global practice leader.

The appointment follows Howden’s acquisition of Barnett Waddingham in April 2025, which created around 4,000 experts across 40 countries, delivering total combined revenues exceeding £500 million.

Howden CEO, UK health & employee benefits and global practice leader Glenn Thomas says: “Carla’s international experience will be a real advantage as we push ahead, particularly with our growth plans in the United States. She also brings the steady financial leadership we need as we continue to bring BW and HEB closer together and build one business, together. With Carla on board, we’ll stay focused, disciplined and in great shape for the next stage of our growth.”

Howden/BW chief financial officer, health & employee benefits Carla Hammond says: “I’m incredibly excited to join the Employee Benefits team at Howden during this pivotal time in its growth journey. The energy and passion from everyone I’ve met has been inspiring, and I’m thrilled by the opportunity to ensure finance acts as a strategic partner to drive the business forward.”

Barnett Waddingham senior partner Andrew Vaughan says: “Carla’s appointment marks another important step in building a stronger, unified employee benefits business across BW and Howden. Her blend of commercial focus and financial discipline will be invaluable as we continue aligning our operations and delivering greater value for clients. We’re delighted to welcome her and look forward to working closely together.”
