ABI director recognised in King’s birthday honours

The King’s Birthday Honours has recognised two high profile figures within the the pensions and savings industry. 

Yvonne Braun, director of policy, long-term savings, health and protection at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) was awarded an an OBE (Offices of the Order of the British Empire) for her service to the pensions industry and for promoting socio-economic diversity. 

There was also an award for Geoff Mellor, former chief executive of Coal Pensions Trustees. He was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire).

Braun has worked on a number of industry-wide initiatives for the ABI, including its cross-sector pensions dashboards pilot. She has also spearheaded the ABI’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and led the industry £100m support fund in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic. 

Braun said: “I am deeply honoured to receive an OBE for services to the pensions industry and socio-economic diversity. 

“Our sector’s purpose to help people achieve a financially secure retirement has never been more important, and to achieve it, our sector must truly reflect the customers we serve. My heartfelt thanks go to all members of my teams – I have been incredibly fortunate to work with such talented and motivated colleagues.”
