Aegon has promoted Linda Whorlow to the new role of managing director of its workplace business.

In this role she will be responsible for developing strategy and leading the sales and distribution teams for the workplace channel across Aegon UK.

Previously she was commercial director of Aegon’s UK workplace business, and has led the distribution team since 2013. In this role she was responsible for integrating the team following the BlackRock acquisition in 2016. She also formerly led Aegon’s trustee and actuarial team and strategic distribution.

Chief distribution officer at Aegon UK, Ronnie Taylor says: “To realise our ambitions in the workplace market it’s important to have the right foundations, core capability and most importantly the right people in place to do this.

“I have been working with Linda for the last year and her enthusiasm, expertise and reputation in the EBC market are a real asset to our business.”

Whorlow adds: “The workplace channel is one of the fastest growing areas of Aegon UK’s business so it’s an exciting time to be leading it.”

She adds that the company has been busy integrating the BlackRock business. As a result it now offers a range of pension propositions, including the full suit master trust, own trust, investment only and broader workplace savings solutions to trustee and corporate clients.

She says: “This means we are well placed to deliver something fit for the needs of clients both large and small.”

Whorlow adds that the company plans to unveil “new developments” later this year, with a view to support better scheme governance, increase member engagement and enhance online user experience.
