Gallagher has appointed Michael Robinson to be head of DC investment in its UK benefit & consulting division.
Robinson joins from Aegon UK where he was head of investment development and led the design and delivery of investment, which included the integrations of private markets into DC default strategies.
Prior to this he worked for Willis Towers Watson and The Asset Management Exchange, where he advised UK and European pension schemes and insurers on investment strategy, portfolio construction and manager selection.
In his new role, Robinson will lead Gallagher’s DC investment proposition. Gallagher says this appointment comes at a an important time for DC market, with schemes are responding to a number of regulatory and market developments — including the drive towards 2030 scale requirement, the new Value for Money assessments, contractual override considerations and a growing focus on private market opportunities.
Robinson will also oversee the continued expansion of Gallagher’s DC investment capability, guided by a remit to support the firm’s growing client base with specialist expertise and tailored solutions.
He will report to Nick Lewis, co-head of investment, UK. Lewis says: “[Robinson] joins at an important time for both our business and the wider DC market. As schemes increasingly focus on member outcomes, retirement adequacy and accessing a broader range of investment opportunities, the need for specialist expertise has never been greater.
“He brings experience across investment strategy, portfolio design and DC innovation. His appointment reflects our continued commitment to building market-leading capabilities and solutions that help clients meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
Robinson says: “Private markets, changing member expectations and a greater focus on retirement outcomes are creating significant opportunities for innovation. Gallagher’s culture, platform and clear ambition for growth stood out to me and I’m excited to work with colleagues and clients to shape the next stage of our DC proposition and help people face their future with confidence.”
