Cushon has appointed Rachel Beagles as its new non-executive director.
Beagles is a financial services expert with extensive knowledge of the wealth and asset management industries and a solid background in sustainability. In addition, Beagles will serve as the chair of Cushon’s audit and risk committee, which will oversee the company’s overall risk management strategy as well as its financial reporting and compliance procedures.
Beagles has over 20 years of investment experience. She formerly served as chair of the association of investment businesses, where she oversaw the Board’s promotion of the industry as an appropriate investment vehicle for illiquid assets and worked on succession planning. She served as the audit committee chair of BlackRock Emerging Europe plc as well as the chair of Securities Trust of Scotland plc.
Currently, Rachel has non-executive director roles at Gresham House, an alternative asset management, Witan Investment Trust plc, and The Mercantile Investment Trust plc, both of which are investment firms. Rachel is a founding member of the sustainability committee of Gresham House, which is in charge of the company’s environmental, social, and governance policy.
She also serves as the chair of the investment committee at Parkinsons UK and a member of the investment committee at Darwin College, both of Cambridge University.
Beagles says: “Cushon is currently going through an impressive growth period, so it’s exciting to join at such a time to help it continue to achieve its high ambitions.
“By joining as an independent Non-Executive Director in the business, I hope I can bring new perspectives to the board to support Cushon in delivering its strategic objectives and fund-raising aspirations. I also feel strongly that my skills, and knowledge of financial services – and experience in sustainability – align with Cushon’s values and benefits the company to grow even further over the coming years.”
Cushon board chair Duncan Howorth says: “Rachel’s expertise will be integral at such a critical time in our journey, joining our Board as we seek to generate further funding and growth.
“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, so having an individual of Rachel’s calibre and expertise to provide strategic, independent thinking is a fantastic addition.”
