Aptia has appointed Russell Laver as head of pension risk transfer.
Laver, a qualified actuary, joins from EY where he was a partner in the firm and led work on small scheme endgame solutions, as well as advising a number of corporate clients.
Overall Laver has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, having also held senior positions with Mercer and JLT, where he built and led successful de-risking, consulting and sales teams.
In total Laver has has been involved in more than 100 risk transfer projects, including member option exercises, buy-ins and buyouts.
In his new role, Laver will lead Aptia’s pension risk transfer offering, helping clients to develop strategies that improve member outcomes, while supporting trustees and sponsors throughout the scheme journey.

Aptia Pensions Consulting managing partner Stuart Heatley says: “I am delighted to welcome [Laver] as the latest joiner to our consulting team. His proven track record advising both trustees and sponsors, combined with his expertise across de-risking and endgame planning, make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team.
“As pension schemes increasingly look to secure member benefits and achieve their long-term objectives, Laver’s experience and leadership will play an important role in helping our clients navigate a rapidly evolving market through high quality advisory and experience. His appointment reflects our continued investment in expanding our specialist capabilities and delivering market-leading solutions for trustees, sponsors and members alike.”
