Over 316,000 people are now registered for the Aviva DigiCare+ and DigiCare+ Workplace apps provided by Square Health, including 147,000 employees, who can access the support as part of their group protection benefit.

According to Aviva, around 15,600 GP visits were made possible using Aviva’s DigiCare+ apps, with 99 per cent of them being scheduled in less than a day. Women’s health concerns, musculoskeletal problems, and skin complaints were the main reasons for consultations.

More than 51,000 health checks were requested in 2023 with around 20 per cent of people who received a health check report arranged a follow-up appointment via the digital GP service.

Additionally, some 6,000 people in the UK sought out nutritional consults to treat common diet-related problems like diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

Mental health was also a priority with more than 10,700 mental health appointments scheduled and available within 48 hours. The most common concerns discussed in these sessions were stress, anxiety, and depression.

Aviva director of protection Fran Bruce says: “Through wellbeing benefits such as the Aviva DigiCare+ and Aviva DigiCare+ Workplace, people can start to understand their personal health risks and take the appropriate steps to help prevent them becoming a more serious condition.

“It’s encouraging to see that employees are increasingly engaging with our workplace wellbeing support and that we can see the positive impact it’s having on employee wellbeing.

“Not only do services like these help employees to take control of their health, they can also help employers control sickness absence by identifying health risks early and signposting the employee to the appropriate support.”
