Consultancy Barnett Waddingham has been appointed by the Pensions Archive Trust to provide pro bono secretariat and governance support.

The PAT is an independent charity dedicated to preserving the history and development of pensions in the UK. The records and materials held by the PAT look to provide an important resource for research, learning and education, helping future generations understand how occupational pensions have evolved and the role they have played in the development of workplace benefits and retirement provision.

BW’s board management services team will provide ongoing secretariat and governance support, with the intention of helping PAT strengthen its governance processes, enhance compliance, and embed best practice.

Jeff Highfield, chair of PAT, says: “Barnett Waddingham’s support will make a significant difference to the trust. By strengthening our governance arrangements, we will be able to dedicate more time to advancing our core mission of preserving and expanding the historical record of occupational pensions in the UK.”

Working in partnership with The London Archives, PAT aims to provide a trusted home for pension documents, publications and personal collections that might otherwise be lost.
