Bupa has expanded access to its Weight Management Plan, providing UK health insurance customers with clinical and lifestyle support to manage their weight.

Employers can offer the plan on an employee-funded, part-funded or fully funded basis, with eligible consumer and SME members receiving a free initial remote GP consultation, usually priced at £99, and a 10 per cent discount on ongoing monthly costs.

The Bupa Weight Management Plan offers GP consultations, personalised programmes and lifestyle coaching, with access to medication where appropriate, delivered through Bupa Health Clinics with 24/7 nurse support and a six-month GP review.

The initial GP consultation assesses BMI and weight-related health conditions to confirm eligibility and approved customers will receive10 per cent off the monthly fee including clinical and lifestyle support from Bupa Health Clinics.

Corporate health insurance clients can include full cover for weight management services and medication, with Bupa offering funding options to increase employee access, from January 2026.

Meanwhile, government data shows that 64.5 per cent of adults in England are overweight or living with obesity, with 26.5 per cent classed as obese. Bupa research found that weight management is the top health goal for UK adults in 2025 while half of respondents did not know their current weight.

This expansion follows on from the launch of the Weight Management Plan to self-pay customers through Bupa Health Clinics in 2023.

Bupa Insurance medical director Dr Robin Clark: “Obesity is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today. By offering access to expert clinical care, treatment and coaching, we’re helping people take control of their health and reduce their risk of serious conditions like diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

“We know that sustainable weight loss requires more than just willpower, it takes the right support, tools and clinical guidance. That’s why our approach combines trusted medical expertise, personalised coaching and weight loss medication where appropriate. Together, these elements empower people to make lasting improvements to their health and achieve the best possible results.”
