Canada Life has appointed Peter Maddern as managing director of retirement.
Maddern has worked for Canada Life for the past 18 years holding a number of senior roles. Most recently he was vice president, capital managers at Canada Life UK’s Canadian parent company. Prior to this he spearheaded the company’s bulk purchase annuity strategy in his role as commercial director and he also played an important role in setting up Canada Life’s Wealth business.
He will begin this new role in mid February this year, succeeding Tom Evans who is leaving the company. As a result of this appointment he will join the Canada Life UK executive committee.
Canada Life UK chief executive Lindsey Rix-Broom described Maddern “an exceptional leader” and says his knowledge of the retirement market and Canada Life will be a great asset as the company looks to grow its proposition, for both advisers and consumers.
Maddern adds: “With increasing life expectancies and an evolving retirement landscape, the needs of our current and future customers are growing and changing. This presents exciting opportunities for Canada Life to further our mission, innovate for the future, and drive forward the business.”
