Canada Life Group Insurance managing director Ian McMullan has died after a battle with cancer.
McMullan first joined Canada Life Group in 1998 and went on to assume the role of managing director in 2006. Under his stewardship, the group division became the largest insurer by premiums, employers and employees, and won numerous awards for best group risk insurer, as voted by advisers.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
Canada Life Group Insurance group CEO Doug Brown says: “It is with great sadness that we announce Ian McMullan passed away on Friday 8th July following an incredibly brave battle with cancer.
“He is survived by his wife Ruth, his daughter Lauren, son Christian and his brother John. Our sincere thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
“These accomplishments are testament to Ian’s focus and drive as group insurance MD.
“Ian always acted in the best interests of the customer, the business and his colleagues. He was an outstanding leader and his high standards mean both the business and his colleagues are better for having known him. A real people person, he will be deeply missed by all those he worked with, from his colleagues to advisers and suppliers.”
