First Actuarial has introduced a new layer of associate partnerships in its structure and appointed 14 new associate partners.

The new associate partners are Sarah Abraham, Marcos Abreu, Andrew Allsopp, Carl Fletcher, Martin Harlow, Scott Harrison, Phil Kelly, Katja Maiberger-Higgins, John Ingoe, Adam Michaels, Craig Moran, Natalie Ogden, Manoj Patel and Robert Wakefield.

Candidates underwent a rigorous selection process that included a business case and interviews with the firm prioritising commercial awareness as well as strong internal and external relationships.

First Actuarial managing partner David Joy says: “When you invest in staff development as heavily as we do, retention is everything. We were keen to recognise some of the firm’s most important people. They’ve made outstanding contributions to our success, and we want them to know how valued their efforts are.

“Our new Associate Partners vary a great deal in their strengths. Some are proven winners of new business; some are talented problem-solvers or efficiency drivers; others have transformed support areas. Overall, the selection process was a real eye-opener – it was great to see how great our staff are and how much they’ve done for the firm.

“First Actuarial prides itself on its flat structure with everyone, including partners, being approachable team members. We need to retain the open culture that this gives us. People should always be able to pursue good ideas freely, regardless of grade. At the same time though, we need to recognise our stand-out performers, and introducing the new layer of Associate Partners in our structure was the clearest way to achieve this.

“Becoming an Associate Partner at First Actuarial is a real achievement. It brings status, gravitas, responsibility and some additional financial rewards. It’s something we’ve been thinking about for a number of years and it’s great to announce our first promotions to this level. We’re convinced it will help the business to flourish.”
