Former Punter Southall DC managing director and more recently chief commercial officer Alan Morahan has joined Barnett Waddingham as joint head of its DC and employee benefits technical and provider research team.
Morahan left Punter Southall earlier this year after working there for over 30 years.
In a LinkedIn post, he said that he has been doing some work in the industry since leaving Punter Southall when he was contacted by Barnett Waddingham head of DC Mark Futcher and partner Paul Leandro with a proposal that he was keen to hear more about.
Morahan has expertise in financial education and retirement planning, addressing topics like active ageing in the workplace, pensions, age diversity, and money.
He held multiple roles at Punter Southall including managing director of its DC consultancy division where he oversaw a staff of 60 people in his capacity, providing advice on workplace pensions for around 950 corporate clients, ranging from small owner-managed companies to major multinational corporations.
He is also the co-founder of National Pension Tracing Day – a not-for-profit campaign to connect people with their lost or forgotten pensions.
Morahan says: “Barnett Waddingham is a firm I’ve long admired from the outside so I’m very much looking forward to getting to know it from the inside. The DC and Employee Benefits Technical and Provider Research team are the engine room for so much of the excellent work that the consultants deliver. My role is to bolster this resource, whilst looking for opportunities to deliver services to external clients.”
Barnett Waddingham partner & head of DC Mark Futcher says: “We are delighted to have Alan join the team. We strive to be the best informed consultants in the market and by attracting the best talent in the industry our reputation as the leading independent consultancy for DC and wider workplace benefits is maintained. Alan’s vast knowledge and experience will help our team at all levels of seniority which in turn helps our clients.”
