Open to both intermediaries and providers, the academy will launch with two workshops. Areas covered include understanding the market, products and added-value benefits, taxation, legislation and underwriting.
The first workshop is in September, with a follow-up workshop in October. The training will be run by providers and intermediaries and will be interactive.
Grid and the Chartered Insurance Institute jointly developed the professional qualification in group risk, GR1. Grid says that while its workshops stand alone, they would also be good grounding before taking this qualification, or as a follow-up to build market knowledge.
There is no cost to attend the workshops for members of Grid. To find out more, please contact grouprisk.org.uk/contact.
Grid spokespersonKatharine Moxham says: “As an organisation, we are very good at sharing our knowledge with members, be that through our responses to consultation papers or answering specific queries, and this is a way for us to share our expertise on a wider scale. This is a dynamic industry, products are enhanced all the time to meet changing needs, and we all need to keep up to date with the impact of legislation. Our training academy is a great way for people to learn from those with more experience at the coalface.”
