Barnett Waddingham has appointed Baroness Helena Morrissey to be the non-executive chair of its management board.

Morrissey has held a range of senior positions within the financial services industry, including being the CEO of Newton Investment Management for 15 years. She currently chairs the Boards of Fidelis Insurance Group and Altum Group and has previously been the non executive chair of the Investment Association.

Morrissey also founded the 30% club in 2010, which has been instrumental in promoting more gender-balanced boards, and helping champion gender equality within the City.  She also currently chairs the Diversity Project, of which BW is a member.

She takes up her new role at Barnett Waddingham at the start of January, and will work with senior partner Andrew Vaughan, and four new managing partners who joined the firm this summer as they look to ‘future-proof’ the firm, by diversifying the pension business with a strengthened offering across risk, insurance and investment.

These various appointments come after a period of significant growth for Barnett Waddingham.

As non-executive chair, Morrissey will act as a strategic sounding board for the management team and provide an external perspective to help drive the firm’s evolution, while preserving its core values and culture, particularly when it comes to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.

Morrissey takes over this non executive  position from Elizabeth Renshaw-Ames, who leaves the role after six years.

Morrissey says: “Barnett Waddingham’s impressive growth ambitions, strong culture, and high calibre of people and talent set it apart as a leading consultancy. I look forward to working with Andrew and his team to build on the firm’s growth and evolution.”

BW senior partner Andrew Vaughan adds: “Our business is at an exciting moment, with evolution and growth core tenets of our future-proofed strategy. Helena, with her exceptional industry expertise and leadership skills, will be invaluable in helping us achieve our strategic ambitions.”
