Howden has appointed Mike Dalby as managing director of its UK consumer health & life business.
Dalby, who joins Howden from AXA Health where he spent more than two years as a distribution director, will help the company fulfil the rising need for personal health and protection solutions including Private Medical Insurance (PMI) and Life Insurance.
He will be in charge of integrating the consumer businesses that A-plan and Aston Lark bought, which will result in a specialised staff of over 250 workers who can offer clients specialised guidance.
Dalby spent nearly five years as an individual health director at AXA Health prior to his current position. In addition, he served as managing director of Health-on-Line, a company he established in 2000. Health-on-Line expanded under his direction into a well-known brand, with AXA Health taking on the role of underwriter in 2006 and finally purchasing the company in 2012.
Dalby says: “I am thrilled to join Howden. The company’s leadership in the employee benefits market and its rapid expansion, both organically and through strategic acquisitions, are impressive. My focus is to build upon this momentum, grow the consumer team and address the heightened demand for individual health and protection solutions.”
Howden CEO health & benefits and global practice head Glenn Thomas says: “Mike brings tremendous business and industry expertise to the team and will be an asset to clients and to Howden. He is highly regarded and a trailblazer in the sector, founding his start-up health tech business which he grew into a successful brand and subsequently sold.
“As a business, we are seeing increased numbers of individuals exploring health and protection insurance for themselves and their families, many for the first time. They are looking for expert advice to navigate the market and help in selecting the appropriate cover to meet their personal needs. Under Mike’s leadership, Howden’s team are able to provide specialist knowledge and support to consumers. We are confident that with Mike at the helm, our consumer business will go from strength to strength.”
