Pension consultants Hymans Robertson and provider TPT Retirement Solutions have been confirmed as signatories to the Financial Report Council’s UK Stewardship Code.

This is a voluntary code. Those who become a signatory commit to providing transparent reporting on the stewardship they undertake on behalf of clients and beneficiaries. The UK Stewardship Code sets a benchmark when it comes to the responsible allocation, management and oversight of capital – with a view to driving long-term value while delivering sustainable benefits for the economy, the environment and society.

There are now around 300 signatories to this Code, which includes pension schemes and insurers plus other assets owners, asset managers and service providers such as investment consultants.

There will be changes to the Stewardship Code which will take effect in 2026. These are expected to make the reporting process simpler.

Hymans Roberston stewardship lead and investment associate consultant Chris O’Bryen says “We’re proud to be recognised, once again, as a signatory to the UK Stewardship Code (Code).

“Our 2024 stewardship report highlighted our refreshed Responsible Investment Mission Statement, our focus on developing climate transition action plans and our proactive engagement with asset managers to drive accountability.  Maintaining a focus on actions that can create real world change remains integral to our work.”

“The changes to the Stewardship Code that take effect in 2026 will hopefully allow more stakeholders to demonstrate their commitments to being better stewards.  However, these changes come at a time when sustainability-related risks are continuing to evolve, and the investment industry faces ever increasing scrutiny.  “This will require those working to deliver a more sustainable future need to remain steadfast in their efforts and we remain committed to helping investors create better financial outcomes and supporting them in driving change.”

TPTIM  responsible investment manager Inês Cunha Pereira adds: “This achievement recognises our efforts to become truly responsible investors.

“We actively engage with investment managers and investee companies to influence behaviours, improve standards and promote sustainability – and see it as our duty to collaborate with other investors, industry groups and policymakers to influence positive change.”
