IGG appoints new head of outsourced governance services

Independent Governance Group (IGG) has appointed Clare Kember to be head up its outsourced governance services team.

Kember has worked for IGG for eight years and has more than 20 years’ experience in scheme governance and trusteeship roles. She was appointed to be trustee director for the organisation in April last year.

IGG’s outsourced governance services teams works with firms where an in-house pensions manager is unavailable, or where in-house teams require additional support in an increasingly complex legislative and regulatory environment. It can offer assistance for both short-term projects and with longer-term appointments.

Kember replaces John Lovell who will retire at the end of the year after more than 30 years in the pensions industry.

Kember says: “In-house pensions managers play a vital role in ensuring and safeguarding the good governance of pension schemes, and our ability to support in-house teams and schemes across a range of services, from secretarial to pensions managerial roles means we are seeing increasing demand in outsourced options.”
