IGG appoints TPR director to new role of head of policy and external affairs

Independent Governance Group (IGG) has appointed Louise Davey, currently a director at The Pensions Regulator,  to the newly created role of head of policy and external affairs.

Davey is currently interim director of regulatory, policy, analysis and advice at TPR.  She has been with the regulator for 17 years, initially starting as a DB funding case manager.

As a member of the regulator’s executive team the TPR Davey oversaw a number of key initiatives, including the new DB funding code, TPR’s Superfunds guidance, the DC value for money framework and TPR’s General Code of Practice. She has also been responsible for leading both its policy and professional advice teams, and delivering policy interventions across the DB, DC and public service pensions, while championing the work of trustees.

In her new role Davey will support IGG when it comes to understanding  the impact of regulatory developments, while leading on the development and implementation of regulatory policies and procedures.

IGG says this will ensure the company continues to help driving up standards across the industry, and retains a strong voice in the development of pensions policy on scheme governance.

Davey joins IGG shortly after the launch of IGGiQ, an innovative data-driven platform to digitally enhance pension scheme management, and IGGnite — a new offering created to provide operationally streamlined and cost-effective professional trusteeship and scheme management services.

Davey said: “I am delighted to be joining the talented, multi-disciplinary team at award winning IGG. I am looking forward to applying my experience of leading the development of regulatory policy at TPR to my new role, helping to develop effective solutions to the challenges that pension schemes and their members face in the fast changing landscape.”

IGG CEO Andrew Bradshaw adds: “IGG has always played a key role in in the industry and is fully engaged with all relevant bodies. We are committed to continued innovation as we look to work with others to drive up governance standards.

“[Davey] will work with our existing Professional Excellence Board and TPR to ensure that we continue to operate to the highest industry standards. Having chaired the working group that introduced the first set of standards for trusteeship, I am pleased that IGG continues to be at the forefront of improving and strengthening governance standards. Davey will be a real asset to IGG, as well as the schemes we work with and the wider industry.”
