Laura Trott appears to have taken over the role of pension minister after being appointed as the parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department of Work and Pensions – although no official announcement has yet been made.

However Trott has been answering pensions questions in the House of Commons and has agreed to meet the Labour MP for Newport West to discuss women’s state pensions and the ‘Waspi’ campaign. She has also made specific reference to her continuing the work of Guy Opperman, the MP for Hexham who was previously the longest serving pension minister before he was asked to step down from the role when Liz Truss became prime minister.

Guy Opperman has been appointed as a minister of state in the DWP following the appointment of Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister. Mel Stride has been appointed at the Secretary of State for the DWP.
