Legal & General added three new support services to its group critical illness product.
Members will now get access to a second medical opinion service, a nurse support service and a medical concierge service, all provided by Medigo.
The is no additional cost for these new benefits, which will be available to insured employees and their families. This will be available to both new and existing policyholders.
This is the latest in a series of enhancements to L&G’s group CIC product. Last year it increased the number of conditions covered by the policy and updated the descriptions of eight existing conditions: bringing the total number of core conditions covered as standard to 15, with the overall number of conditions that can be covered to 41.
Legal & General Group Protection distribution director, Colin Fitzgerald says:“We recognise that being diagnosed with a critical illness is traumatic and brings with it many practical and emotional support needs for employees and their families.
“The enhancements we are introducing are designed to complement the financial support at the core of our insurance product.
“When serious illness strikes, getting a second medical opinion and having access to practical and emotional assistance from a fully-trained nurse can make a big difference.”
He says the partnership with Medigo enables L&G to offer these services to employee. “Medigo’s expertise and industry experience complement Legal & General’s wider group proposition to provide outcome-focused support services.”
