Legal & General has made two senior appointments to its group management committee.
Laura Mason, currently CEO of private markets, has been appointed as CEO of L&G’s retail division. She will start this new role in December and succeeds Bernie Hickman who is leaving the business.
Mason was part of the founding team that launched L&G’s alternative assets business and also led its institutional retirement division. Before joining L&G she works as a consultant at Towers Waston.
L&G has also announced that Katie Worgan will be its new group chief operating officer, taking on a new role on the group management committee. Worgan will lead the group’s operations, technology, digital and data, procurement, and property and workplace strategies.
Worgan will join L&G in the first quarter of 2025, and is currently managing director and COO of consumer relationships at Lloyds Banking Group.
Legal & General chief executive officer António Simões says: “We are making rapid progress on our vision for a growing, simpler, better-connected business. Today’s leadership appointments reflect our intention to continue to move at pace to implement our strategy.
“[Mason] is an exceptional leader whose knowledge of L&G and expertise across our businesses will help us further strengthen collaboration across our divisions, while Katie Worgan combines a global, customer centric mindset and technical expertise with proven experience leading large and complex businesses through transformation.”
