Lindsay is vice-chairman of Barclays Global Investors Europe. He was awarded the OBE for services to the fund management industry in the 2005 Queen’s birthday honours list.
Hitchen, current NAPF chairman, says: “He will take over at a very challenging time, with pressure growing on workplace pensions and the launch of personal accounts. I know that he will work towards wider as well as deeper retirement provision in the UK.”
