Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Scott Wheway as a non-executive director of the group and as chair of Scottish Widows Group.
Subject to regulatory approval, Wheway will start serving as a director on August 1, 2022, and as chair of the Scottish Widows Group on September 12, 2022.
Scott now serves as chair of Centrica and AXA UK, although he will leave his position as chair of AXA UK as of today, June 30, 2022, while continuing to serve as chair of Centrica.
Scott has accumulated extensive board experience in the financial services industry over the past 15 years. From 2007 to 2016, he chaired Aviva Insurance Limited and served as a non-executive director of Aviva plc. He served as the senior independent director of Santander UK for seven years, serving in that capacity until 30 September 2020.
Scott spent more than 25 years working as an executive in the retail industry. He held a variety of prominent positions, including that of managing director of Boots the Chemist and chief executive officer of Best Buy Europe.
Lloyds group chair Robin Budenberg says: “Scott will bring a depth and breadth of knowledge and experience of large-scale banking and insurance to his roles with the Group. His track record as a non-executive and executive in customer-centric companies complements the Group’s strategy and will help us deliver the right outcomes for customers. I look forward to welcoming him to the Group. I would also like to thank Sophie O’Connor for taking on the role of interim Chair of Scottish Widows Group since Nick Prettejohn stepped down from the role in September last year.”
