IFM Investors, the Australian investment manager specialising in illiquid investments for not-for-profit pension funds, has appointed Gregg McClymont as executive director, public affairs (UK), as part of its push into European markets.
McClymont, who will be based at IFM’s London office, joins IFM from The People’s Pension, where he was director of policy and external affairs. Prior to that worked for three years as head of retirement at Aberdeen Asset Management.
He also served as a Labour MP from 2010-15 and as Labour’s shadow minister of state for pensions between 2011 and 2015. He was a member of the Prime Minister’s Commission on Further Devolution to Scotland 2014, an Opposition Whip, and sat on the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills, and Science and Technology Select Committees.
McClymont previously taught at St Hugh’s College, Oxford where he was a fellow; and is the co-author of three volumes on global pension system design: Towards a new pensions settlement: the international experience.
Global head of external relations David Whiteley said the appointment showed the firm was determined to deepen its engagement with community, government and regulators across Europe.
Whiteley says: “Gregg McClymont will be a strong contributor to our aspiration to protect and grow the retirement savings of the 50 million people around the world on whose behalf we invest.”
