Medicash has added two new AI-driven digital health tools to its its corporate cash plan, offering employees additional monitoring and assessment options.
Those covered on Medicash’s Proactive plan will be able to access the HealthLens app on their phone, to monitor a range of key health indicators, alongside a virtual hearing assessment tool, eargym.
Both will be available from March 1 at no additional cost.
HealthLens uses a smartphone camera to scan facial blood flow to detect blood pressure, heart rate, and to calculate the risks of cardiovascular disease, stroke and other conditions. The tool — offered through VivaScore — can provide users with an initial indicative health score, as well as early indication of health changes through regular scans.
Eargym is a phone app that provides hearing assessments and training programmes. Its auditory training focuses on enhancing key hearing and cognitive skills to strengthen auditory processing. Research indicates that such training can improve understanding of speech in noisy environments by up to 25 per cent.
Medicash points out that hearing loss affects one in six working age adults, yet it is often overlooked in corporate wellbeing strategies. Left unaddressed, it can lead to social isolation, reduced productivity, stress and even dementia.
Medicash said both new benefits underscore its commitment to using new technology to improve employee health and wellbeing.
As well as having access to these benefits, from March 1 new corporate groups will also have increased cover levels for optical, dental and complementary therapies benefits.
Medicash chief executive Sue Weir says the cash pan providers launched its first :claims app in 2014 and introduced its skin cancer screening service nearly five years ago
“By integrating advanced digital tools like HealthLens and eargym into our corporate health plans, we are empowering employees to take more control over their health and wellbeing. These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible and forward-thinking health solutions.”
Simon Spurr, managing director of Alula Health, the company behind VivaScore, said: “By integrating VivaScore into the Medicash app and plan offering, we’re providing policyholders with a hyper-personalised wellness experience that goes beyond covering healthcare costs.
“This partnership allows policyholders to better understand their health needs and take actionable steps toward improved wellbeing, driving better engagement and ultimately promoting long-term health and resilience.”
