Mercer Marsh Benefits changes UK and European leadership

Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) has changed its leadership for the UK, Ireland and continental Europe.

Chris Bailey has been appointed as the new MMB leader for the UK and Ireland, reporting to Mercer UK president and CEO Sylvia Pozezanac. Bailey succeeds Tony Wood, now regional leader and managing director for continental Europe, reporting to Hervé Balzano, president, Health at Mercer and global MMB leader.

Bailey joined MMB in 2000 and has worked in a variety of client-facing and operational roles, assisting large clients with their organisational healthcare needs. He was most recently a partner and head of corporate consulting in the UK. He will lead a team of 800 UK-based colleagues and will be a member of the leadership teams for Mercer UK, Marsh UK & Ireland, and MMB International.

Wood joined MMB in 2014 as UK Leader and has also led its UK career business for the last year. Before joining MMB, Tony spent six years with BUPA, holding numerous roles in Australia and the UK and several years in senior roles with AMP, the Australian wealth management and financial planning group. Wood will be responsible for MMB’s financial performance, management, and governance across 32 countries. He will also sit on the MMB international leadership team.

Bailey and Wood will be responsible for assisting clients in designing, delivering, and financing health and risk protection benefit programmes.

Mercer UK president & CEO Sylvia Pozezanac says: “We are delighted to announce these new appointments to further strengthen our MMB leadership team in the UK and Europe. Chris and Tony have played significant roles in the growth of the business by delivering solutions and expertise that truly benefit our clients. We look forward to collaborating across our Marsh McLennan enterprise to deliver the best outcomes for our clients.”
