MetLife appoints new strategist

Jeff Passmore has been appointed to the newly created position of lead liability-driven investing (LDI) strategist in MetLife Investment Management’s public fixed income department.

Passmore comes to MIM from Barrow Hanley Global Investors, where he worked in a similar capacity. He is a former pension and investment actuary with industry experience serving MIM clients. He has experience developing liability hedging overlay strategies and custom liability benchmarks.

Passmore will work with the firm’s existing pension clients and their consultants to develop or enhance existing LDI strategies. Passmore will also collaborate with a number of MIM groups to create new product offerings that meet the changing LDI needs of our pension clients.

MIM head of long duration and LDI strategies Stephen Mullin says: “We understand that LDI investing will continue to adapt and evolve in ways that are important to our clients and we believe we can offer value in this area. Jeff’s deep expertise in asset/liability matching and actuarial understanding of plan design will ensure that our pension clients receive the highest calibre service as they continue to pursue de-risking strategies and work toward their pension objectives.”
