Health Shield says the number of new company paid group schemes also rose sharply by 145 per cent to 147 for the year.
Releasing its figures for 2009, the provider says business grew by 12 per cent to £20m on an annual premium income basis.
Last year saw it launch two company paid products in 2009 – Essentials and Essentials Plus – alongside a tailored bespoke scheme offering.
Health Shield, a non-profit making friendly society, says it has paid out around 80 per cent of its contributions back to members in the form of benefits.
