Aon has appointed Nigel Aston to be an associate partner and market development lead of its UK defined contribution solutions team.
Aston joins from State Street Global Advisors where he was a senior managing director responsible for global workplace strategy and ESG. He has previously held roles at Standard Life, AXA, SEI and technology start-up DCisions, spanning areas including investment design, sales, and marketing and communication.
In his new role at Aon, Aston will be focused on working with clients and market evaluators to ensure client needs are met.
Aon head of UK DC Solutions Tony Britton says this appointment supports Aon DC Solutions’ rapid expansion in the UK market. He adds: “As we continue to invest in our offering to clients, Nigel’s experience across distribution, strategy and investment will be invaluable.”
Aston adds: “The UK pension industry is currently in a state of transition. There is a wholesale shift to master trust, which is unfortunately accompanied by a somewhat limited choice of quality providers with sufficient bandwidth to serve the needs of the market. This means that scheme sponsors, as well as the professional service providers that serve them, are suffering a capacity crunch.
