The Pension SuperFund has appointed James Pearce as its new chief financial officer.
Pearce joins from Just Group where he was director of group finance. In this role he was responsible for financial reporting, tax, corporate finance, investor relations and strategy.
Prior to this Pearce has worked for both JP Morgan Cazenove and UBS. He is a qualified chartered accountant who has built up considerable experience as a financial executive working in capital markets.
The Pension SuperFund co-founder and CEO Luke Webster says this appointment further builds out the senior management structure.
He adds: “There is a focus on ensuring efficiency and value for money for pension fund members and capital providers alike.”
Commenting on his appointment Pearce says: “Joining the Pension SuperFund team is a hugely exciting opportunity. I expect to help the team play a leading role in a market which is hungry for the benefits of DB pension scheme consolidation.”
This appoint comes shortly after the pensions minister, Guy Opperman said the Department of Work & Pensions were “massive supporters” of superfunds.
Opperman added that DB members have the potential to get a better return using these superfunds.
He described the greenlighting of superfunds as his proudest accomplishment of the pandemic.
