The Pension SuperFund has appointed eight non-executive directors to its board, including the former CEO of Aviva Life.

These appointments come as the Pension SuperFund applies for assessment from The Pensions Regulator. It says these new directors reflect the pension’s aggregators commitment to good governance drawing on a wealth of experience from industry professionals.

The new eight directors include:

  • David Barral the former CEO of Aviva Life. Barral is also a former chair of the retirement and savings committee at the ABI
  • Sheila Gunn, an employment and pensions lawyer  who is currently a NED with the Scottish Building Society
  • Jocelyn Blackwell a pensions industry veteran for more than 40 years and a current trustee director of Lloyds Banking Group Pensions Trustees Limited
  • Samantha Durrant who currently holds   NED roles in the Home Office, Insolvency Service and NHS and has served as a director at Nest
  • Clive Hopkins who serves on the development board at St John’s College, Cambridge University and was director and chair of the investment committee for Shell Pensions Trust from 2010-19
  • Kathryn Graham, the ex head of strategy coordination at the Universities Superannuation Scheme
  • Helen Copinger-Symes who has over three decades with global blue-chip asset managers, investment firms and banks and currently serves on the investment committee for the DHL foundation
  • Frank Johnson a highly experienced NED with investment companies and previously managing director of  investments with RailPen

The Pension SuperFund CEO Michael Clark said he was delighted with these appointments. “Their track records both within pensions and across the broader financial landscape further strengthens PSF’s high-class roster of pension professionals to ensure first-class leadership and governance for what is a very exciting time for superfunds.”
