The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has appointed Mark Ormston as a new non-executive director to its board and reappointed Girish Menezes as president for a further one-year term.

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has reappointed Girish Menezes as president for a further one-year term and appointed Mark Ormston as a non-executive director.

The appointments were approved at the PMI’s AGM on Thursday (10 September) and come as the institute prepares its next four-year corporate plan, due to be published in early 2027.

Ormston, chief compliance officer at Retirement Line, succeeds Sarah Drummond, who is stepping down at the end of her term.

He brings board and chair experience, alongside expertise in financial oversight, regulation, governance and technology. He has held several industry roles, including chair of PASA’s Industry Policy Committee and NextGen’s Research & Insights Committee. He has also served on the PMI’s Advisory Council and holds EPMI status.

PMI chair Ruston Smith says: “I would like to congratulate Girish on his reappointment as President and thank him for his continued commitment to raising standards and developing future talent across the pensions sector. ”

Ormston says: “I am delighted to join the Board of the Pensions Management Institute at such a pivotal period for our industry. At a time when people access information – accurate or otherwise – in a much more transactional way than ever before, the PMI’s role in driving education, knowledge, and high professional standards is more vital than ever. I very much look forward to working with the Board to support our 10,000-plus members and foster long-standing, robust innovation across the sector.”

Menezes says: “I am honoured to continue serving as PMI President for a further year. The pensions profession is evolving rapidly, creating both challenges and opportunities for our sector. The PMI has a vital role to play in supporting professional standards, developing skills and helping individuals at every stage of their careers to ensure they have what it takes to deliver the best possible saver outcomes. I look forward to building on the progress we have made and continuing to work with members, volunteers and industry partners to support the future success of our profession.”
