Simplyhealth appoints new managing director as it targets further growth

Simplyhealth has appointed Sonya Bryson as its new managing director.

Bryson, who will start the role on 19 August, has more than 25 years’ experience of leadership in the insurance sector, most recently working as managing director at the RSA Insurance Group, where she led a £1.5bn commercial business.

She has also held senior leadership roles at Direct Line and NIG. In these various roles she has been responsible for running large, regulated businesses, driving growth and delivering transformational change across organisations. At Direct Line Bryson played a significant role in embedding a more agile operating model to accelerate product development and support growth through multi-channel distribution.

Simplyhealth says this appointment will enable it to continue to invest in its capabilities, products and customer experience to support future growth. It says it remains committed to simplifying access to workplace healthcare by removing barriers and reducing costs, helping people to access the care they need when they need it.

Simplyhealth specialises in workplace health and wellbein, through its core health plan offering, which now includes 24/7 GP and mental health support, alongside a range of pay-as-you-go services, from tests and scans to neurodiversity assessments.

This announcement follows the recent appointment of Nick Tait as managing director of Denplan, part of the wider Simplyhealth Group. The company said both these appointments serve to strengthen its leadership team as it looks to drive growth, innovation and enhanced value for customers, partners and healthcare professionals.

Simplyhealth Group CEO Paul Schreier says: “We are delighted to welcome [Bryson] to Simplyhealth. She brings a wealth of experience leading complex, regulated businesses, alongside a strong track record of delivering growth, transformation and customer-focused innovation.

“As we continue to evolve Simplyhealth and strengthen the value we provide to customers and partners, her leadership will be instrumental in helping us deliver our long-term ambitions.”

Bryson adds: “The ambition to improve access to healthcare and the opportunity to shape the future of Simplyhealth is incredibly compelling. I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on the strong foundations in place and deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers and partners.”
