Simplyhealth buys dental technology firm FMC

The Simplyhealth Group has acquired FMC — a business offering a range of services to the dental industry. 

This includes FMC’s Dentistry OS division, providing software platforms to independent practices and dental groups. This offer compliance, HR, CPD marketing and CRM services to these firms. 

Simplyhealth says this acquisition reflects its focus on the dental sector and the fact that the healthcare provider already has relationships with more than 4,000 dental practices across the UK.

It says that bringing FMC and The Simplyhealth Group together creates the opportunity to expand Dentistry OS’s reach, with more practices potentially using its platform and services. 

It points out that this technology can help dental practices reduce the administrative burden, strengthen compliance and operate more efficiently in an increasingly complex environment.

As part of this deal Simplyhealth will also acquire FMC Media & Events, which runs education, events and specialist media publication for the dental industry.

Simplyhealth says this deal will enable it to invest in FMC, helping support future growth and enabling it to develop of new products and services.

The Simplyhealth Group provides a range of cash plans, health plans and dental payment plans across the wider employee benefits and retail market.

FMC chief executive officer Craig Welling says this deal market the largest investment in the company’s 30-year history.

He adds: “We wanted a partner that shared our long-term ambition to invest in dentistry while allowing us to continue building the business our customers know and trust. [This deal] gives FMC the opportunity to invest further in our products, technology and people, while continuing to serve practices, partners and the wider profession.”
