The Society of Pension Professionals (SPP) has launched a careers video highlighting opportunities in pensions administration.
According to The Pensions Regulator’s 2023–2024 survey, 80 per cent of administrators reported difficulties finding new hires, indicating that the industry is experiencing an increasing talent shortage. The SPP Pensions Administration Careers video covers the essential duties and responsibilities of pensions administration, what it involves, and why it’s a rewarding career choice. It also lists the required education, training, and experience.
The video offers information for anyone thinking about a career in the field and features industry leaders Lorraine Harper (Aptia Group) and Anish Rav (Capita Pension Solutions).
Aptia Group SPP member and client relationship director Lorraine Harper says: “It’s a great career because you can join at any level, from a school or college leaver, as an apprentice, a graduate or a career switcher later in life, there are opportunities, training and qualifications for all levels. It’s a vital role and one that I’d wholeheartedly recommend.”
Capita Pension Solutions SPP member and director of global pensions policy & propositions Anish Rav says: “These roles are amongst the most important in running a pension scheme, they are the main point of interaction for individuals and ensure savers get paid the right amount at the right time.
“They are specialist roles, which provide a rewarding and exciting career, with the ability to undertake professional qualifications and get involved in a wide variety of work – every day is different, and you can make a real difference by helping savers with their pension saving.”
