Support levels for mental health vary based on company size, with large corporations offering 70 per cent support, SMEs providing 49 per cent, and micro companies offering just 37 per cent, according to Towergate Health & Protection.
According to the research ahead of World Mental Health Day on October 10, the support also differs according to industries, with the construction industry giving the least support, only 43 per cent. In contrast, the healthcare sector is in the lead with 80 per cent support.
The report finds that there are many methods accessible to employers to assist mental health. These methods include giving counselling services frequently as a part of employee benefits like employee assistance programmes and using mental health applications as a starting point for support.
Towergate Health & Protection head of wellbeing Debra Clark says: “Everyone should be given access to mental health support at work, regardless of the size of a company or the industry in which they are based.”
Clark adds: “With the number of ways to offer mental wellbeing support, options at every level, and the huge benefits it brings, we would encourage every employer to offer it. “
