The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has named Deborah Evans as the new chair of The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO), effective 1 July 2025 for five years.

Pensions Ombudsman Dominic Harris says: “I am delighted to welcome Deborah as our new Chair. She has a wealth of experience in local government, ombudsman services and the legal sector, which will stand her in good stead for the challenges we face at TPO.

“Her knowledge and expertise will perfectly complement the skills of our existing board members. I very much look forward to working with her over the coming years as we continue to transform the important public service we provide.”

Evans says: “I’m honoured and delighted to be appointed as the new Chair of TPO. This is an incredible opportunity to lead an organisation that plays such a vital role in upholding fairness, accountability, and trust.

“The work of TPO is essential in ensuring that individuals have access to impartial resolution and that pension institutions are held to high standards of service and integrity that the law demands, and I can’t wait to get started.”
